Meowmories is built for more than one journey. With three endings and a 2–3 hour playtime, the game expects you to return to the nightmare — to take different routes, recover different memories, and piece together the full story of a cat and its missing owner. At the center of that replay loop are the keepsakes.

How Endings Work Your ending is shaped by the keepsakes you collect during a run. The memories you recover — and the ones you leave behind — determine which of the three outcomes the story reaches.

What Are Keepsakes?

Keepsakes are fragments of shared memory — physical echoes of the bond between the cat and its owner, scattered through the nightmare. They are the game's core collectible, but unlike a typical completionist checklist, they carry narrative weight: gathering them is how you uncover the story, and which ones you hold at the end decides how that story closes.

  • Keepsakes are collectible memory fragments found throughout the nightmare's areas.
  • They directly influence which ending you unlock — they are the mechanism behind the three endings.
  • Many are placed off the safest path, rewarding exploration and risk over the direct route.

Finding Keepsakes

Keepsakes are hidden, not handed to you. Locating them is a deliberate act that leans on the game's two signature mechanics — and on your willingness to leave the safe path.

  1. Use the Scan Ability to reveal them. Keepsakes are among the "important items" the Scan exposes through the environment. Scan deliberately in each area to find what it hides.
  2. Time your scans around patrols. The Scan can expose your position, so scan from safety — behind cover or from high ground — and let the exposure window close before a monster can close in.
  3. Explore vertically and through gaps. Some keepsakes sit on high ground or beyond narrow gaps, rewarding the cat-only paths the monsters can't easily cover.
  4. Weigh risk per run. A keepsake off the safe route is a gamble. Decide each run whether the memory is worth the detour — that's the tension the endings are built on.
Scan Is the Key You will not find every keepsake by wandering. The Scan Ability is the intended discovery tool — pair it with the timing discipline from the Meow & Scan guide so the exposure never costs you a run.

The Three Endings

Meowmories has three endings. We keep the story specifics out of this guide so you can experience them yourself — what follows is the spoiler-free structure of how they're reached, so you can plan your runs without ruining the payoff.

ENDING I
The Path of Fewer Memories

Reached with a lighter keepsake collection. The story closes on what the cat couldn't hold onto.

ENDING II
The Middle Ground

A partial recovery of memories. The nightmare's most balanced — and most bittersweet — outcome.

ENDING III
The Full Memory

Reserved for those who recover the most keepsakes. The complete story of cat and owner.

The endings are not "good, better, best" — they are three different emotional resolutions to the same nightmare, each reflecting how much of the shared past the cat carried home. The 2–3 hour runtime is short enough that seeing all three is a realistic goal across a handful of runs.

Planning Your Replays

Because endings hinge on keepsakes, the smart approach is to treat each run as a targeted attempt — not a blind replay. A little planning turns three endings into a satisfying completion arc rather than a grind.

  1. First run: play naturally. Experience the nightmare on instinct. Whatever ending you reach is your baseline — don't chase completion yet.
  2. Note what you missed. After your first ending, you'll have a sense of which areas you scanned lightly and which risky keepsakes you skipped.
  3. Second run: hunt deliberately. Scan thoroughly, take the vertical and gap routes, and push your keepsake count toward the next ending tier.
  4. Third run: complete the set. With routes mastered and scan discipline in place, recover the remaining memories to unlock the final outcome.
Routes Feed Endings Keepsake hunting and escape mastery are the same skill set. The safe paths and vertical shortcuts from the Escape Routes guide are exactly what let you reach off-path keepsakes without dying for them.
Spoiler Promise This guide will never reveal what the three endings actually show. When Team Memolink's nightmare is out in the wild and players have experienced it, we'll add an optional, clearly-labeled spoiler section with exact per-ending keepsake requirements — behind a warning, never in the open.
